First symposium: « Physics of living matter: experiments and theoretical models ».
The main goal of this first symposium
“Physics of living matter: experiments
and theoretical models” is to promote interactions and discussions between
physicists, biologists and mathematicians at the University of Nice Sophia
Antipolis. A primary objective is to understand the physical basis of diverse
biological processes and to develop novel experimental and theoretical
approaches including physical and mathematical models. We aim to bring together
scientists with interests at the interface of these fields creating a forum, which
facilitates discussion, identifies common interests and potential
collaborations as well as presenting interdisciplinary projects currently
underway at the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis. We propose to launch at this occasion a new interdisciplinary axis entitled "Physique du vivant : expériences et modèles théoriques".
We have planned a combination of short talks, including brief reviews and “how to” presentations, a poster session and ample time for discussion. Without being exhaustive, this mini-symposium will touch on diverse problems, which cover a range of different levels from molecules to living organisms to collective phenomena between organisms.
This mini-symposium will take place on Thursday 18th of December from 9 am to 6 pm at the Theater in the grand château at the Valrose campus.
Please fill out the online registration form before the 8th of December. We welcome all scientists, from students on up, that are interested in the interfaces between physics, biology and mathematics to participate and present posters of on going work. Please indicate a title in the registration form. This session has a limited number of spaces and you will receive confirmation upon registration.
The organizing committee: M. Argentina (INLN), R. Arkowitz (iBV), F. Brau (IPMC), L. Counillon (LP2M), X. Noblin (LPMC), M. Ribot (LJAD), A. Seminara (LPMC). This first mini-symposium is made possible by the support of the fédération W. Doeblin.
